Poague Family Agricultural Account Book and Slave Register
Randolph T. Shields Collection
This collection includes American Civil War recollections of Shields' maternal grandfather, Coupland Randolph Page, including his service with the Liberty Hall Volunteers, the Stonewall Brigade, and the Battle of Gettysburg. In addition, papers contain significant documents about members of the Tucker family, including John Randolph Tucker and Judge Henry St. George Tucker.
Robert Hanson Fleming Diary
His diary describes Fleming's flight to Augusta, Ga. after the fall of Richmond, guarding the specie of the Confederate treasury. There is also a furlough permit, May 2, 1865, signed by Commandant William H. Parker.
Rupert Nelson Latture Valedictory address
Rupert Latture's address recalls highlights of the Class of 1915 at Washington and Lee University. It makes an extended analogy to Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story, 'The Great Stone Face.' It also includes humorous references to Washington and Lee President George Hutcheson Denny.

Welsh Family Papers

There are also 34 family letters on microfilm, 12 of which were written by John P. Welsh during his confinement in a Federal prison.
William A. Gordon Memoirs
The memoirs include recollections of Gordon's childhood in Georgetown and Washington, D.C., of his relatives and friends, and of his career in the 1st Regiment of Engineers with the Army of Northern Virginia (1862-1865) as well as genealogical information.

The materials were compiled for a proposed memorial volume which was never completed. The collection contains transcripts and copies of William H. Davis's letters home to his wife Millie, from Monterey, Petersburg, and other Confederate army posts in Virginia. The material is a record of a common, unlettered man pouring out his homesickness to his wife.
